CHBC fam --

Last fall, when I planned this Community Gathering for March 4, I was eager for this event as it would be a bridge to building back community after a long season of being a part from one another - especially as an event where other life groups and other men could build camaraderie and community on teams.

However, with the creation of the bimonthly membership gatherings (first one on Wed, March 8th) and other very recent community-based events (i.e. Missions Dinner and Prayer, Women's Daytreat, etc), I'm realizing this might not have been the best time to schedule this event. As well, the registrations for this cook-off have been lower than I expected and I'm guessing that might be due to me asking too much of our CHBC family to participate in "one more" church-wide event with others so close together.

Consequently, after some good counsel with Elizabeth Portnoy and my other team members, I've decided to postpone this chili cook-off to the fall as one of the offerings of our Fall Family Fun Day on Sunday, October 29 (alongside Trunk-or-Treat, outdoor games and bounce houses, etc.).

I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Like you, I was eager to taste-test several different chilis by teams here at CHBC. However, I think this is a wise decision to postpone it to this fall. I think it's going to be worth the wait.
